Women's basketball wins big at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team responded after a loss on Wednesday to beat up on Moravian at Johnston Hall on Saturday. DaniRae Renno and Jess King combined for 33 points and 18 rebounds.

Elizabethtown showed no ill effects coming off a defeat at the hands of Catholic a few nights ago as they hit on nearly 60 percent of their shots in the first half on Saturday. The Blue Jays were 18-for-31 from the floor over the first 20 minutes and Renno and King combined for 25 first-half points and 11 rebounds. Their point total was more than the Greyhounds scored all together by half as Etown led 44-19.

Renno paced EC with 13 points and nine rebounds while King had 12 points. Summer McNulty, Allyia Kennedy, and Ella Gordon each hit a three in the opening half.

The Blue Jays outrebounded Moravian 23-13 and had a 14-0 edge in second chance points while commanding the paint, 24-10. They held the Greyhounds to just 26 percent shooting (7-27FG).

Moravian won the third quarter by outscoring Elizabethtown 19-13, but the Blue Jays were right back with a 24-10 fourth quarter as the lead blossomed to over 30.

With the lead being as big as it was, Etown was able to use 16 players in the fourth with nine contributing to team's scoring output, led by Kennedy's six points. She'd finish the game with 17 off the bench along with eight rebounds. Cyleigh Wilson, who hit a three in her 12th consecutive game and has at least one in 19 of 21 games this season, dished out three assists in the fourth.

Elizabethtown held Moravian under 50 points for the seventh time this season and the second time this season.

Renno also had 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while adding five assists and three blocks. King ended with 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and three steals.

The Blue Jays will play at Goucher on Wednesday, February 12, at 7 p.m.
