CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- The hole for the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team was too big to dig out of on Saturday in their 12-8 loss at Washington (Md.).
Tristan Coleman and
Lucca Scomillio each had two goals to lead the Blue Jays.
It was an early barrage of goals from the Shoremen as they led Etown 6-1 after one quarter.
Alex Scholl scored the only goal of the first for the Jays.
Jay Rodriguez and Scomillio tallied for Elizabethtown in the second, but they trailed 9-3 at half.
The defense found its footing in the second half, limiting Washington (Md.) to three goals over the final 30 minutes.
Graham Temple and Coleman scored back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to six by the end of the third, 11-5.
After the Shoremen scored with 8:57 to go, Scomillio, Coleman, and
Finn Kristan each scored, but it was too little, too late as Etown ran out of time and fell 12-8.
Brayden Franey made 10 saves in goal for the Blue Jays.
Elizabethtown will play at Swarthmore on Saturday, March 1, at 12 p.m.
