GRANTHAM, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team took a short trip over to No. 9 Messiah, Wednesday evening where the Falcons swept the Blue Jays.
Mason Boyer led the team with five kills and two solo blocks.
Craig Patrick and
Arun Gopinath each totaled four kills.
Dustin Hagin grabbed seven digs while
Braydon Ambruster tallied eight assists.
Messiah got off to a strong start leading 15-7 after several multi-point runs. Boyer smacked down Elizabethtown's final kill of the set as the Jays fell, 25-14.
Etown was able to keep set two close as they trailed by just one after a Patrick kill. The Falcons then rattled off six straight to double their lead to 14-7. The two teams traded points for a bit but Messiah still held a substantial lead. Kills from
Josh McCoy, Boyer and
Logan Smith brought the score to 12-18. With three straight Blue Jay errors Messiah led, 23-15 and then went on to win, 25-17.
The Falcons jumped to an 8-3 lead to start the third set. Messiah tallied six points in row, extending their lead to 15-5. The two went back-n-forth but Etown continued to trail by ten. Gopinath and Ambruster grabbed the final points for Etown but Messiah came out on top, 25-15.
Elizabethtown continues their road stint as they travel to Immaculata on Friday, February 21 at 7 pm.
