#14/17 Elizabethtown extends win streak to seven at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team extended its win streak to seven games to start the season with a 70-36 win at Goucher on Saturday. Makenna Mummert led the Blue Jays with 12 points.

Goucher led in the first quarter and held strong against Elizabethtown through the first quarter as they went into the second tied at 18-18.

From there, it was all Etown. Over the next 20 minutes, the Jays would outscore the Gophers 42-10 to break the game wide open. EC also dominated on the glass, outrebounding Goucher 31-14 in the first half, including 16 offensive rebounds that led to 12 second chance points. Elizabethtown ended the game with 57 rebounds, tied for eighth most in a single game in program history. Ellie Fasick had a game and career-high 16 of those boards.

The Blue Jays led 39-26 at the half with the bench providing 17 points.

The offense heated up after a slow first quarter and shot a game-high 67 percent in the third, hitting on 10-of-15 shots that led to a 21-2 advantage in third-quarter points.

Elizabethtown would hold Goucher to its lowest season point total, 36, and worst shooting performance of the year at .262. It's the second straight contest that the Jays have held their opponent to season lows in both categories.

Etown will host Shenandoah next Sunday, December 14, at 2 p.m.
