Kennedy named Landmark Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. -- Senior Allyia Kennedy is the second member of the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team to be named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week this season. Kennedy posted a career-high 29 points at Messiah last week and earned the first AOTW honor of her career on Monday.

Kennedy has been a key piece to Elizabethtown's unbeaten start to the season at 5-0 through November. The senior is currently averaging career-highs in points, rebounds, and minutes for the Blue Jays.

Etown needed all of those last Tuesday in Grantham, Pa. as Kennedy totaled a career-best 29 points in the overtime win. 20 of her 29 came in the second half and she finished the evening 13-for-19 from the floor, also a career-high in field goals. Her 29 points are the second-highest point total by a Landmark player this season, the only higher total coming from her teammate, Makenna Mummert, 10 days prior.

Kennedy played a season-high 33 minutes and was one rebound away from a double-double.

She ranks second in the Landmark in field goal percentage at just under 60 percent (.571) and is eighth in both points and rebounds. Her field goal percentage currently puts her 37th in NCAA Div. III.

Elizabethtown looks to stay unbeaten overall and in the conference when they host Drew on Wednesday in Thompson Gym.
