SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Senior
Drew Bridges recorded her 100th career point in the Elizabethtown College field hockey team's Landmark semifinal loss at Susquehanna Tuesday night. Bridges had the Jays lone goal in the 2-1 defeat.
It was a 0-0 game through nearly 45 minutes, with both offenses unable to really produce too many chances.
Bridges had an attempt toward goal with five minutes to go in the third, but from a tight angle, it was saved. She would put Elizabethtown ahead a few minutes later, however, off a corner.
Hailey Meyer inserted the ball out top to
Hannah Long. The junior passed to her right, finding
Sophie Myers. She struck a ball directed at goal and Bridges got a touch on it to deflect it into the cage and put the Blue Jays ahead with a little under two minutes left in the third.
The River Hawks were level less than five minutes into the fourth quarter and then were able to get the go-ahead goal a handful of minutes later.
Myers had two attempts later in the fourth, one saved by the goalie and another cleared off the line by the defense to preserve Susquehanna's lead.
EC couldn't find the game-tying goal in the final moments as the Hawks ran out the clock.
Bridges ended her senior season with 23 goals and 11 assists for 57 points. Her goal total ties for the sixth-most in the season, her assists total ties for seventh-most in a season and her point total is the fourth most in a season for Elizabethtown. She leads the Landmark in goals and points.
