Mummert named Landmark Athlete of the Week after record-breaking performance

TOWSON, Md. -- Senior Makenna Mummert was named the Landmark Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday for the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team after her record-breaking performance over the weekend at Haverford. It is her first career Athlete of the Week honor.

Mummert came into Saturday's non-conference matchup at Haverford having previously scored a career-high 22 points twice prior to tip-off. She'd surpass that before the end of the third quarter.

The senior guard started out quick with seven first-quarter points and recorded 13 by halftime on 6-for-9 shooting from the field.

Fortunately for Elizabethtown, she got stronger as the game went along, posting 14 points in the third quarter alone, including six of seven foul shots, which put her at 27 for the game as the Blue Jays were able to erase a double-digit deficit and get in front of the Fords.

Mummert jumped into the 30's with eight more points in the fourth quarter, and while Haverford was able to tie the game up at the end of regulation, that just gave the Delone Catholic grad more time to pile on the points, especially from the foul line. She would draw a total of 13 fouls in the game and get to the line for 18 attempts.

Her 35 points by the end of regulation were the most for Etown since Summer McNulty's 35 points in 2023 at home against Scranton.

Between the overtime periods, she had 11 points and was 5-for-5 at the free throw line to give her 16 made foul shots for the game, tied for the second-most in a game in team history, tying Erin Walton's 16 on Nov. 28, 2006.

Mummert finished the game with 46 points on 15 made field goals, tied for the fourth-most in a game for the program. Her point total was also a new Landmark Conference record, beating Kyla Smith's 43 at Stevenson on Nov. 16, 2022.

The conference's previous scoring high this season was Bri Botdorf's 26 against Penn State Altoona on Nov. 13.
