ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown field hockey team had a dominating performance, Wednesday evening against Drew. The Blue Jays downed the Rangers, 9-2
Drew Bridges and
Hannah Long each recorded a hat-trick while
Hailey Meyer tallied three assists. It was Long's first career hat-trick.
Sara Watson added two goals and
Meadow Keet scored one. Bridges also tallied two assists.
Bridges now leads the Landmark Conference with 17 goals on the season.
After a scoreless first quarter, Etown got on the board twice in the second quarter as they dominated possession. In the 18
th minute, Meyer found Long and then a minute later Long from the top of the arch, scored the Jays second goal unassisted. The Blue Jays outshot Drew, 15-1 in the first half.
Etown was on fire in the third quarter scoring four goals in 15 minutes, extending their lead to 6-0. Five minutes into the third, Bridges assisted Keet on her third goal of the season as sophomore tapped it in. A minute later, Bridges all alone in the arch went around the Rangers goalie into the left side. Goals from Long and Watson rounded out the third quarter.
Five minutes into the fourth quarter, Drew gained some momentum scoring two goals within two minutes of each other to cut the deficit to 6-2. In the 56
th minute, Bridges scored her second goal of the game. Following a Blue Jay green card, Meyer from the center of the arch found Watson. Seconds after Bridges was released from her green card, the senior ran down field for another unassisted goal.
The Blue Jays outshot Drew, 34-7 while earning 11 corners to the Rangers three.
Etown will be back at home Saturday as they host Goucher for senior day.
