Women's soccer beaten by Lycoming

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- One goal was all that decided Saturday's close Landmark Conference matchup between the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team and Lycoming. The Warriors grabbed a second-half goal and held on for a 1-0 win over the Blue Jays.

Lycoming's Mikayla Long had a couple flicked on efforts toward goal in the first 14 minutes of the game, but those went right to Ella Smith.

Smith was needed late in the half as the Warriors were awarded a free kick about 20 yards from goal. Ella Magee spun a left-footed effort toward the right post. Smith was able to make a diving, outstretched save to keep the ball out of the goal and 0-0 going into half.

Norah Mosley produced the game's lone goal in the 62nd minute from the side of the box. She curled in a well-placed free kick into the far, upper right corner of the goal to make it 1-0.

The Blue Jays had a couple of efforts on goal in a six minute span midway through the second half as Sophia Hogan, Bridget Ferrarese, and Molly Kleinert put shots on target. Those were each saved by goalie Riley Block.

Jenna Hoffmann had a go in the 89th minute, but Block stopped the shot and kept her shutout.

Elizabethtown will play at Drew on Tuesday, October 21, at 7 p.m.
