ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team fell to Catholic, 3-1, Tuesday night at Ira R. Herr Field.
Ella Fasnacht provided the Jays' lone goal of the game.
Catholic had the Blue Jays pinned back for much of the half, controlling possession and outshooting Etown 17-2 over the first 45 minutes.
Elizabethtown managed to get two shots off in the final minutes of the half, with one on goal off the right boot of substitute forward
Ashley Hudak.
The Cardinals grabbed the lead off a scramble play from a corner where Katie Scully poked home the goal with just over four minutes left.
The Blue Jays were able to see more of the ball in the second half, though the attack remained stifled by CATHU.
Sam Cesario and Kaitlyn Houri each scored for the Cardinals in the second half as they took a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the final five minutes.
Olivia Herbert and
Jenna Hoffmann played short passes to one another before finding Fasnacht, a second-half sub. The sophomore went long and the ball skipped over the head of goalie Ava Rieger and snuck into the goal with just over two minutes left in regulation.
Elizabethtown hosts Lycoming on Saturday, October 18, at 1 p.m.
