WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team seemed poised for a road point at Catholic, but the Cardinals produced a game-winner in the final two minutes to topple the Blue Jays, 1-0, at Carlini Field Tuesday night.
Catholic managed to produce eight shots to the Jays' one in the first half, though only one of those shots for the Cardinals was on goal.
Elizabethtown's lone shot came from
Manny Velazquez.
Aidan Valentine put a shot on goal for Etown in the 54th minute to force goalie Owen Allegro into his first save of the night.
Owen Auchenbach's shot on target was stopped by Allegro in the 66th minute as the Jays looked to grab the lead.
Pedro Miranda made consecutive saves in the 67th and 69th minutes to keep it scoreless.
With a 1:35 left, Catholic's Seth Michalak was able to score for the hosts and they held off EC in the end to escape with the last-minute victory.
