ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team finished level with Lebanon Valley Wednesday night at Ira R. Herr Field with a 1-1 non-conference draw.
Most of the first half was spent scoreless until the 44th minute.
Aidan Valentine drilled a shot that rang off the crossbar, popped straight up and then back down around the goal line. In an attempt to play the ball, the LVC keeper mistakenly knocked it into his own net that gave Elizabethtown a late first-half lead.
The Blue Jays, though they trailed in shots at 6-2, led at the break 1-0.
Etown clung to that lead for much of the second half until leading goal scorer for the Dutchmen, Nathan Prex, was able to get loose and scored his 10th of the season in the 73rd minute.
LVC pressed the rest of the way to grab the go-ahead goal, but
Sam Frey and the defense held out to keep it tied at 1-1.
Frey ended the night with four saves.
The men's soccer team hosts Susquehanna for Homecoming on Saturday, October 4, at 4:30 p.m.
