SCRANTON, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's basketball team's first half struggles continued at Scranton, Wednesday evening in Landmark Conference play. The team fell, 62-51.
Anthony Lilly recorded a career-high 19 points and six rebounds.
Austin Finarelli totaled 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
Rance Russo grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds.
After Elizabethtown tallied the first basket of the game, Scranton went on a 14-0 run taking the lead at the 12-minute mark. Midway through the half Etown was able to cut the Royals lead in half. With five minutes remaining Scranton continued to hold their lead at 25-13. After trading free-throws, Finarelli sunk a three with 16 seconds left to leave the Blue Jays trailing, 32-26 at halftime.
Finarelli and Lilly brought the Jays with four of Scranton to start the second half. Lilly continued to have a strong game making back to back shots. Etown took over the lead at the 13 minute mark, 37-36. For the next several minutes the game remained close with neither team trailing by more than two. Scranton then broke through making the next couple free-throws to take a 50-44 lead. Lilly made a layup with less than four minutes remaining to come within one of Scranton. In the final three minutes the Royals went on a 10-0 to finish out the game for the 62-51 win.
The Blue Jays will face Wilkes on Sunday, January 12 at 2:30 pm at The Palestra.
