ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Seniors
Ava Whisten and
Marissa Vandernick both scored in the second half to help the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team remain unbeaten with a 2-1 win at Lebanon Valley on Saturday.
LVC goalie Camryn Porter needed to make several stops in the first half as the Blue Jays looked to get ahead in the first 45 minutes. She stopped a
Kayla Myer chance in the 13th minute before consecutive saves on
Kirsten Navich in the 19th and 22nd minutes.
Adrienne McGallicher, on the other hand, was not needed for a save in the first half as the Dutchmen registered no shots on frame.
McGallicher made her first save of the game in the 50th minute with the game still tied 0-0.
Elizabethtown finally struck in the 66th minute thanks to Whisten's first of the season. The Jays held onto that one-goal lead and saw it go up by one nearly 15 minutes later as Vandernick connected on her first of the year in the 80th minute to make it 2-0.
Lebanon Valley managed a late consolation goal in the 89th to make it 2-1, but that's all they would get.
Ella Smith played the final 10:20 of the second half for Etown.
The Blue Jays play at Gettysburg on Wednesday, September 11, at 4 p.m.
