ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- A 1-1 game going into the final 10 minutes turned into a 3-2 loss for the Elizabethtown College men's soccer team Saturday night at Ira R. Herr Field. Immaculata put two in the net in the final seven minutes and held off the Blue Jays in the end.
The shots were 7-5 in favor of Elizabethtown in the first half, but neither side really was able to test the other in terms of scoring chances as the game was locked in a 0-0 at the half.
The Mighty Macs went ahead 1-0 in the 50th minute after Matthew Kirkpatrick's long throw in dropped to Michael Balestriere in front of goal.
The Jays got level in the 61st minute as their high press forced Immaculata goalie into a tough play. He tried clearing the ball out of his box, but
Aidan Valentine was there to defend the ball and it went off the junior and into the goal to make it 1-1.
Late in the game, IU had a free kick that was saved and the ball went right to the feet of Kyle Coleman who stuck the ball into the goal to make it 2-1. Minutes later, Kirkpatrick put the guests ahead 3-1.
Pedro Guizardi got a late goal from the penalty spot after
Gavin Domsohn was tackled inside the box.
