CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team went on the road Wednesday evening to post a clean sheet at DeSales while
Ava Whisten scored twice and
Kayla Myer recorded her first career goal in a 3-0 win for the Blue Jays.
Elizabethtown went ahead in the 16th minute thanks to Whisten's first of the game.
Marissa Vandernick's shot was saved by DeSales' goalie Saige Santa Cruz, but couldn't be controlled and Whisten was there to clean up the rebound and usher it into the net to make it 1-0.
The Blue Jays led by a goal at the half.
Out of the intermission, Etown struck twice in five minutes.Â
First, it was
Maddie McWhinney and
Kirsten Navich setting up Whisten's second of the day and team-leading fourth goal in the 48th minute, the first shot of the second half.
Exactly three minutes after, it was Myers' turn as the freshman connection of Navich and Myers made it 3-0 in the 51st minute for her first career goal.
Adrienne McGallicher played 56 minutes and made a pair of saves before
Ella Smith took over. Smith also made two saves during her time before
Mckayla Green made her Jays' debut over the final seven minutes of the contest. Those three earned the combined shutout as the did not concede a goal to the Bulldogs over 90 minutes.
EC finished with a 14-10 advantage in shots, with 11 of those on target.
The Blue Jays will take on defending conference champion Scranton on the road this Saturday, September 28, at 1 p.m.
