ST. MARY'S CITY, MD. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team was held without a goal Saturday at St. Mary's (Md.) and fell to the Seahawks, 1-0.
The Seahawks, appearing in the recent regional rankings, took an early lead within the first 10 minutes as they got out ahead of the Blue Jays.
Kayla Myer had an early chance for Elizabethtown in the first 45 seconds of play, but her shot was stopped by SMC goalie Kyleigh Bland.
Etown put all four first-half shots on frame, but Bland made a save on each. Myer, again, had an opportunity to equalize denied in the 14th minute.
Marissa Vandernick's shot low center was saved and
Jenna Hoffmann's bid for her third of the season was stopped by Bland in the 24th minute.
EC trailed 1-0 at the half.
The Jays attempts to get level were thwarted over the final 45 minutes as St. Mary's opening goal was enough to get past Etown.
Elizabethtown will play at DeSales on Wednesday, September 25, at 5 p.m.
