ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- In the highly anticipated matchup between old MAC rivals Wednesday night at Ira R. Herr Field, Messiah triumphed over the Elizabethtown College men's soccer team as four different players scored for the Falcons in a 4-0 win.
The Blue Jays did manage to outshoot Messiah over 90 minutes, but it was the visitors that cashed in on their opportunities.
The Falcons grabbed the lead in the 10th minute when Sam Phillips intercepted a ball from the Etown defense and got in on goal to score the game's first goal.
Messiah added goals in the 25th and 43rd minutes and went into halftime ahead 3-0.
The Jays fought in the second half to try and get one on the board.
Aidan Valentine had an early shot saved by Adam Carter. Messiah scored their fourth and final goal shortly after that.
Elizabethtown had a few other chances, but shots were off target and did not test Carter in goal.
EC finished with a 14-11 advantage in shots.
Pedro Miranda made three saves for the Blue Jays.
Etown will host Alvernia in the annual Kicks for Cancer game on Saturday, September 21, at 7 p.m.
