ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The second game of the Brothers Pizza Blue Jay Classic didn't go the same way for the Elizabethtown College men's soccer team as it did on Friday when they beat Alfred 1-0 at Ira R. Herr Field. Washington (Md.) scored three goals in the second half to hand the Blue Jays their first defeat of the season on Sunday.

It was even on the scoreboard through 45 minutes, though the Shoremen had outshot Elizabethtown by an 8-2 margin in the first half. Starting goalie Pedro Miranda made two saves over the final five minutes of the opening period to keep it level at the break.

Washington (Md.) scored twice in the span of six minutes to grab a 2-0 lead. The Blue Jays nearly got one back on Pedro Vinent's chance in the 70th minute, but Cole White made a well-time saved to preserve his shutout bid. Moments later, White stopped a Cade Brubaker chance that came in on goal.

White would come up with another important save in the 79th minute to deny Etown, and then, less than a minute later, the Shoremen would score on a set piece, headed home in the middle of the six to wrap up the 3-0 game.

Elizabethtown will have the week off before facing Immaculata at home on Saturday, September 7, at 7 p.m.
