ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team fell to Alvernia on Tuesday in non-conference action at The Nest. The Golden Wolves won game one, 7-2, and took game two, 6-4.
Kassidy Kehoe was 2-for-2 in game one.
Elizabethtown wasn't able to produce any early runs and found themselves down 3-0 after four innings. Alvernia added another in the sixth and three more in the seventh to take a 7-0 lead into the bottom half.
Sarah Birner hit an RBI single down the left field line to break up the shutout and
Rachel Allen's RBI ground out gave Etown a second run, but it was too little, too late for the Jays.
Maddie Reever also had two hits in the first game for EC.
Down 2-0 in the fourth in game two, the Blue Jays got level after Allen's RBI hit. The freshman would later score on an error to tie the game at 2-2.
The Golden Wolves answered back with four in the fifth as they led 6-2 going into the seventh.
Elizabethtown attempted to come back as
Kristen Aydelotte singled up the middle to score
Hannah Long.
Skye Zolomij brought home
Brooke Huczko on a sac fly RBI to cut it to 6-4, but that's as close as the Jays would get.
The softball team will host Drew on Saturday, April 27, at 1 and 3 p.m.
