Four Blue Jays with hat tricks as men's lacrosse extends win streak to seven

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Four players recorded hat tricks for the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team in Tuesday night's 26-3 win over Juniata at Wolf Field. Colin Kondracki had a game-high four points, including three goals, while Gavin Gismondi, Tristan Coleman and Landon Scully also scored three goals apiece in the Jays' seventh straight victory.

It was a game very much like Saturday's blowout win over Wilkes where Elizabethtown controlled the action. That started at center with the Blue Jays winning 27-of-32 face-offs on the night. TJ Chapman and Chance Millhorn each won eight, Graham Temple won six, Nathan Sharpe won three, and Andrew Heyeh won two.

The first quarter was 6-1 in favor of Etown with Riley Langen kicking off the night with the game's opening goal inside the first minute. Nolan Krasnick dished to Kondracki for his first of three less than a minute later. After Juniata cut it to 2-1, Kondracki found Coleman for his first of the evening. Reese Levinson set up Gismondi to make it 4-1, Lucca Scomillio fed Ryan Flanegan for goal no. five and Levinson himself finished off the scoring in the first for Elizabethtown.

The Jays kept the offense coming and registered 76 shots in the game, the second-most in a single game in program history. Etown had 15 different goal scorers on the night, four with hat tricks, three with multi-goal efforts and eight that tallied once.

Elizabethtown led 13-3 at the half as Kolton Black scored his second of the night with 35 seconds left in the half. That was the final goal of the night for the Eagles as the Blue Jays shut them down in the second half as Kyle Miller, Christian Schrader and Will Oberle did not allow a goal.

Scully got his first of three with 10:04 to go in the third. Alex Scholl picked up an assist a few minutes later on Coleman's second of the game. Joey Killpatrick added his name to the scoresheet two minutes after that. Jake Woodworth had the last goal of the third for the Jays as they led 18-3 after three.

Flanegan and Colin Johnson had goals to start the fourth. Killpatrick made it a three-point night with his assist to Evan Youndt, who ripped a shot top shelf. The freshman had a goal and an assist in the game for EC. Brent Wehland netted a man up goal for Elizabethtown two-thirds of the way through the fourth. Scully capped off his hat trick with just over two minutes to play. Youndt returned the favor to Killpatrick for the game's final goal with 44 seconds remaining.

Franey made two saves in the first half to earn his 10th win. Miller and Schrader each had one save. Oberle did not face a shot for the Jays.

Elizabethtown will battle Susquehanna for the top seed in the Landmark on Saturday, April 27, at 1 p.m.
