ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Sophomore
Maddie Reever had three RBIs and senior
Cierra Kunkle threw another complete game shutout in game one as the Elizabethtown College softball team split with DeSales on Monday in non-conference action at The Nest.
The Blue Jays were off and running quickly in the first as
Sarah Birner, Reever and
Jenna Davis each had RBI hits. Birner singled to left center to score
Hannah Long. Reever cleared the bases with two more runs as she sent a triple to the right center fence. Birner and
Kassidy Kehoe scored on the hit. Davis drove in Reever from third to make it 4-0 right away for Elizabethtown.
Davis would make it 5-0 in the third with a sac fly caught by the right fielder in foul territory down the right field line, but deep enough to allow
Courtney Oliver to score.
The game underwent a brief lightning delay, but once play resumed, the Jays kept it going. Birner scored on a wild pitch in the fifth and
Olivia Prosser dropped a single into center for the RBI base hit. Reever added her third RBI of the game in the sixth with a single up the middle to end the game in the sixth.
Kunkle threw all six innings, allowing five hits and no runs with two strikeouts for her third victory of the season.
Rachel Lowry flipped the script on Etown in game two as she held the Jays to just two hits and no runs in seven innings. Long and
Kristen Aydelotte recorded the hits late in the game for the Blue Jays.
Elizabethtown will play at Wilkes on Saturday, April 20, at 1 and 3 p.m.
