WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team was swept on the road Wilkes on Saturday. The Colonels beat the Blue Jays by finals of 1-0 and 2-0.
Skye Zolomij had two hits for Etown in game two.
Elizabethtown struggled at the plate as the Colonels' pitching held the Jays to just two hits. Those came from
Maddie Reever and
Rachel Allen.
Wilkes scored the lone run of the game on an RBI groundout in the second inning.
The Jays couldn't get the bats to wake up much in the second game as they faced one of the top pitchers in Division III in Lauren DeMarco. Zolomij did manage a pair of hits and
Haley Nedo had a base hit to right in the third, but the stranded five on base for the second consecutive game of the day.
The Colonels scored on a two-run homer in the third and held Etown scoreless for the day with a 2-0 win to get the sweep.
Elizabethtown will host Alvernia in non-conference action on Tuesday, April 23, at 3 and 5 p.m.
