Langen, Franey reach milestone marks in win for men's lacrosse

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- There was plenty to celebrate for the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team on Wednesday in a 17-7 win at Wolf Field over Moravian. Riley Langen recorded his 200th point and Brayden Franey made his 500th save as the Blue Jays beat up on the Greyhounds by double digits. Langen and Gavin Gismondi each had six points in the game.

Elizabethtown pounced on Moravian from the get-go as they led 3-0 in the first two minutes on goals from Colin Kondracki, Reese Levinson and Nolan Krasnick. Langen took a feed from Gismondi at 9:01 of the first quarter to secure his 200th career point, just the third player in program history to reach the 200-point mark.

Franey entered the game with 499 career saves and his 500th came at the 12:33 point of the first as he stopped a shot from Steven Salica with the Jays already ahead 3-0. The senior made 15 saves in the game and is now only the second goalie all-time to record at least 500 or more saves.

The Jays kept rolling in the first as they'd outscore the Greyhounds 7-1 through 15 minutes. Langen and Gismondi each had two first-quarter goals for EC.

The pair connected on the opening goal of the second as the lead grew to seven, but Moravian responded with four consecutive goals spanning the latter portion of the second and the first few minutes of the third as they got within three, 8-5, with 12:05 left.

Tristan Coleman and Gismondi netted goals as to begin a 9-2 run over the remainder of the game to put it out of reach. Moravian scored once in the third and once in the fourth.

Ben Clark got in on the scoring action late in the fourth as Etown generated a turnover and went the other way. Clark scooped up the ball and went coast-to-coast for the defender's second career goal with 2:27 remaining in regulation.

Langen, who became the Landmark's career assists leader this past weekend at Drew with his 120th career assist, had five goals and another helper against the Greyhounds. Gismondi totaled a hat trick of goals and assists for the Jays while Kondracki also registered a hat trick. Connor Stewart had a goal and a pair of assists along with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

The Blue Jays will host Scranton on Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m.
