ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team got off to a fast start at both ends and rode that to a 17-10 win over St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday at a rainy Wolf Field.
Brayden Franey made 12 saves and scored once to help his own cause while
Colin Kondracki and
Connor Stewart each recorded hat tricks.
Tristan Coleman finished with a team-high five points for the Blue Jays.
Like this past Wednesday at Stockton, Elizabethtown (1-3) got off to a quick start, ahead 6-2 by the end of the first quarter. Only this time, the Blue Jays kept that going through the rest of the game.
Etown had five different players record goals in the first. Kondracki scored his first of two in the quarter to level the non-conference matchup at 1-1 at 11:44 of the first on a pass from
Nolan Krasnick. Then, a man-up,
Gavin Gismondi made the Seahawks pay with his first of the game on
Riley Langen's assist. Stewart posted his first at 7:00 to make it 3-1 and less than a minute later, Krasnick netted his goal on Coleman's setup.
Jake Woodworth also used a Coleman pass for a goal.
The game only saw three goals in the second, but all of them belonged to Elizabethtown as they shut down St. Mary's (Md.) (3-2) offensively. Three of Franey's 12 saves came in the second and the Blue Jays led 9-2 at the half. Kondracki, Stewart and Langen had the tallies for EC in the second.
SMC came out of the half seeking the comeback, getting four of the first five third-quarter goals, but Elizabethtown responded with four consecutive to end the quarter.
Ryan Flanegan and
Alex Kilgour each scored a man-up as Etown was 3-for-6 in the game on EMO.
Reese Levinson's unassisted goal was in between those for the Jays. Coleman netted his first of two at the end of the third.
Ahead by nine, Franey and Coleman had the goals in the fourth as the Seahawks worked to get back into the game, but Franey's six saves made that a difficult task.
Elizabethtown will play at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, March 16, at 12 p.m.
