LEESBURG, Fla. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team won and lost in walkoff fashion on Tuesday.
Kassidy Kehoe was the game one hero as her double gave the Blue Jays a win before suffering a close defeat to close out the day.
Brooke Huczko had two hits in each game for Etown.
GAME ONE: ELIZABETHTOWN 5, CHATHAM 4
Elizabethtown (2-2) led 2-0 after
Emily Polimeni's sac fly RBI and an RBI single from
Kristen Aydelotte. Those runs came in the second and third innings.
Ahead 2-1 in the fourth, Polimeni was able to score on a defensive error by the defense after
Olivia Prosser's bunt single.
Chatham (2-4) evened the game at 3-3 in the fifth, but Kehoe returned the lead back to the Blue Jays with her RBI in the bottom half of the inning.
The Cougars got the run back in the sixth as the game went into the seven knotted at 4-4.
Maddy Jean sat the side down in order in the top of the seventh, setting up the dramatic ending for the Jays.
Hannah Long singled to center to put the leadoff on base. Then, with one out, Long as able to steal second to put a runner in scoring position for Kehoe. The freshman laced a double to left center as Long came around third and scored with ease to give Etown the 5-4 walkoff win.
GAME TWO: RIVIER 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 2
Huczko drove in two runs on an RBI single in the second as Elizabethtown led 2-0.Â
The Blue Jays outhit Rivier (3-1), but struggled to finish off some advantageous opportunities as they left 13 runners on base.
The Raiders came on late after plating a run in the third inning. They scored once in the sixth to tie the game and then Olivia Cuoto hit a walkoff RBI triple to right center.
Long and Huczko each had two hits apiece in game two.
The Blue Jays will have Wednesday off before playing another pair of games on Thursday, March 7.
