Blue Jays roll past Goucher

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Plenty of points to go around as 11 different players recorded at least a point and eight registered at least a goal for the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team on Saturday as they rolled past Goucher, 13-4. Riley Langen had a hat trick in the game and he and Gavin Gismondi each tallied four points to lead Etown in the win.

It was all Blue Jays in the first quarter as they built a 5-0 lead, starting 14 seconds into the contest as Langen posted his first of the day on a pass from Eric Hoover. Connor Stewart would score his first of two in the quarter to make it 2-0 with just under 12 and a half minutes to go.

Langen, who became the program's all-time assists leader on Wednesday at Widener, added to his total with another against Goucher (6-3, 0-1 Landmark). He dished to Gismondi 40 seconds after Stewart's goal to make it 3-0. Langen and Stewart closed out the first with goals on assists from Lucca Scomillio and Gismondi.

Alex Kilgour was one of the eight players with a goal, he opened the second quarter with an unassisted goal that put the score at 6-0. The Gophers then scored consecutive goals to cut into their deficit, but the Elizabethtown (3-4, 1-0 Landmark) attack was on a roll despite the wind and rain. Reese Levinson, Langen and Jake Woodworth added to the Jays' total, which was 9-2 by halftime. Woodworth's goal came with just nine seconds left in the half.

Levinson and Gismondi netted third-quarter goals for the Blue Jays. Nolan Krasnick, one of 11 with at least a point, had the assist on Gismondi's second of the game.

Ryan Flanegan and Finn Kristan joined the scoring party in the fourth with goals at the beginning and end of the quarters. Kristan forced a turnover on goalie Jack Smith, picked up the groundball, and scored the 13th and final goal of the game for Etown.

Elizabethtown had a season-high 42 ground balls and 25 clears in the game. TJ Chapman was 15-for-18 on face-offs with a team-high seven groundballs. Lucas Kohler picked up five and Peter Pitrelli had four GBs for the Jays. 11 players finished the day with at least a caused turnover for the Jays as they forced 22 turnovers. Brayden Franey made nine saves in goal and allowed a season-low four. Will Oberle came on for the final 3:13.

Elizabethtown plays at Stevenson on Wednesday, March 27, at 7 p.m.
