#16 Swarthmore drops men's lacrosse

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team dealt with nationally-ranked Swarthmore on Saturday at Wolf Field. The Garnet stormed out to a big halftime lead and didn't look back in a 22-8 win over the Blue Jays. Gavin Gismondi had a pair of goals to lead Etown.

Swarthmore (4-0) scored the first seven goals of the game in the first quarter before Elizabethtown (0-2) tallied one of its own. That goal came from Lucca Scomillio with 1:34 left in the first on Gismondi's assist.

Riley Langen and Tristan Coleman scored for the Jays in the second, the first of the career for Coleman. Connor Stewart provided the assist on Coleman's first, but the Garnet scored seven for the second consecutive quarter as they led 14-3 at half.

Langen fed Gismondi for his first of the game two and a half minutes out of half. Brayden Franey scored the first of his career in the game as Swarthmore was on a ten-man ride, leaving him the chance to go for goal and he cashed in.

Gismondi, Jake Woodworth and Alex Kilgour recorded goals in the fourth quarter. It was the first for Woodworth. Joey Killpatrick assisted on Gismondi's second goal of the night.

Franey made 14 saves in the game for Elizabethtown.

The Blue Jays will be on the road for the first time this season as they travel to Stockton on Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m.
