Wrestling avenges loss, beats #14 Alvernia

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team battled nationally-ranked Alvernia for the second time this season, and this time, they got the win over the Golden Wolves, 34-16.

Senior Ethan Liptzin put the Blue Jays ahead early on with a 12-0 major decision at 125 to start the dual off in Etown's favor.

The Jays also received wins via disqualification at 149 and 184.

 The Golden Wolves, who trailed 10-8 after 149, got back in front at 157 with a tech fall and were up 16-10 after 165. Elizabethtown stormed back over the final four bouts. Ganon Smith, Trai Roland and Dylan Waller each recorded falls for EC, and along with Davis' win, Etown rallied with 24 straight points to earn a resounding win over Alvernia. All three falls came in the first period.

Kurt Driscoll got the major decision, 11-1, in exhibition ahead of Saturday's dual.

The Blue Jays will host Messiah on Friday, February 9, at 7 p.m. Friday night is also Senior Night for Elizabethtown.
