ROCHESTER, NY. – The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team split in their tri-match on Saturday vs. No. 7 St. John Fisher and SUNY Poly. The Cardinals swept Etown, 3-0 before the Blue Jays came back and defeated SUNY Poly, 3-2.

Alex Finch led the team with eight kills (.429) while
Logan Smith totaled six kills and four digs.
Dustin Hagin tallied seven digs.
To start set one, No. 7 St. John Fisher jumped to a 7-1 lead. A kill from Finch and a Cardinals attack error brought Etown within five. For the next several points the two teams traded points with St. John Fisher still out in front. Two Cardinal service errors and a
Nate Seeger kill brought the score out to 22-15. The Cardinals took set one, 25-16 on a Blue Jay error.
St. John Fisher was again out to a hot start as they led, 8-3. Kills from Smith and
Trey Weedon along with Cardinal errors tied up the set at 9-9. The Cardinals then rattled off the next four points to retake the lead. Blue Jay errors extended St. John Fisher's lead to 20-13.
Cody Boyer and Finch each smacked down a kill to bring the score to 22-16. Two consecutive Cardinal kills brought them to set point as they pulled out to a 25-18 win over Etown.
The third set started closer than the first two as St. John Fisher led, 6-3. Cardinal errors kept Etown trailing by just one. After trading points, St. John Fisher went on a 5-0 run to take a 20-11 lead. Blocks from

Nick Chapman, and C. Boyer brought the Blue Jays within six points. St. John Fisher ended the set with a with a four-point run to win, 25-16.
ELIZABETHTOWN 3; SUNY POLY 2
Finch and Chapman each tallied a season-high kills as Finch recorded 23 while Chapman totaled 15. Scott recorded a career-high of 39 assists. Hagin totaled 19 digs.
SUNY Poly took set one 25-20 before Etown won the next two sets 25-20 to go up 2-1 over the Wildcats. In set two the two teams traded points to start until Elizabethtown tallied four straight points to lead, 12-8. A Chapman kill followed by Scott ace put Etown up 18-12 on the Wildcats. The Wildcats stayed close but the Blue Jays pulled out the 25-20 win as Smith and Finch ended the set with kills.
Set three started tight until Etown jumped to a 10-5 lead after four straight points. Finch and Smith tallied a kill each to keep the Blue Jays up by ten points. SUNY Poly managed to come within three but Etown was once again able to win the set 25-20 after Chapman and Finch ended the set. Set four, SUNY Poly gained momentum and grabbed the set win, 25-18 to force a fifth set.
Elizabethtown started out with an 8-5 lead with the help from Finch, Smith, Chapman, and C. Boyer. The Wildcats tied up the set at 12-12 after tallying three straight. The Blue Jays grabbed the final three points to come out on top, 15-13.
After a four-game road stint, Etown returns home on Tuesday, February 27 at 7PM as they host Immaculata.
