WAYNE, NJ.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match at William Patterson in non-conference action, Friday evening.
Gracie Britten totaled eight kills and six block assists.
Lucy Stanek totaled nine kills and nine digs.
Emma Bitner tallied 22 assists while
Sophie Savick added 11.
Elizabethtown struggled in the first set falling, 25-13 before being competitive in sets two and three but falling, 28-26.
William Patterson jumped to an early 11-2 lead before the two teams traded points for a while. Following two Pioneer kills the team continued to hold a large lead. Etown couldn't recover as William Patterson lead was to large to overcome as they defeated the Jays 25-13.
Set two saw Etown start off with the lead at 9-4 after four points in a row. After trading points the Pioneer's came within two of Etown before overtaking the lead at 16-15. Britten and
Savannah Lesley put down kills to retake the lead. The set ended in a back-n-forth fashion with William Patterson coming out on top, 28-26.
Elizabethtown again came out with the early lead to start set three. Three Pioneer errors but the Blue Jays out in front, 7-4. William Patterson then rattled off seven consecutive points, taking an 11-7 lead. The Blue Jays then went on a 5-1 run to trail by one. Lesley added a kill and an ace while Stanek put down a kill. William Patterson pulled away, 19-16 before the Jays tied things up at 19-19. Again, through the end of the set the two teams traded points but the Pioneer's came out with the 28-26 win.
Etown returns home Sunday, November 10 at 12pm as they host Rutgers-Camden.
