WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's basketball team fell 110-98 at King's (Pa.) in the 2024-25 season opener.
Austin Finarelli led the team with 25 points, going 6-6 in free throws.
Rance Russo added 24 points while going 3-5 in three-pointers.
The first half was tight all the way through as Elizabethtown trailed by five at 53-48 at halftime as
EJ Finney hit a buzzer beater off a fastbreak. Eight minutes into the second half, King's led by four just after sinking a three-pointer. Midway through the half, the Monarchs had extended their lead to 85-71. Etown slowly chipped away at King's lead to cut their lead to nine as Finarelli and Finney added points. The Monarchs went back up with a 14-point lead following two consecutive three-pointers. Russo sunk a three with three minutes remaining.
Alon Gorham and Russo each tipped in layups but the Monarch's still held 10+ lead. The Blue Jays were unable to recover from the deficit as King's came out on top, 110-98.
Elizabethtown will host Franklin & Marshall, Wednesday, November 13 at 7 pm.
