ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Juniata kept their unbeaten start to the Landmark Conference schedule going as they defeated the Elizabethtown College men's soccer team 2-0 at Ira R. Herr Field Wednesday night.
The Eagles were plus-two in the shot department through 45 minutes, though neither team managed a goal in the first half.
Shawn Tanaka put Juniata ahead in the 50th minute with his fifth of the season. Then, Nathan Weick, who assisted on Tanaka's goal, scored one of his own in the 61st minute to increase the lead to two at 2-0.
Etown pushed men up the field to try and get one back in hopes of swinging the momentum and then going for a game-tying goal, but they weren't able to get the first.Â
Maxwell Mattioni made three saves in the second half and a ball was cleared off the line to prevent the Blue Jays from scoring as well.
Juniata's win is their first-ever against Elizabethtown after the Jays had gone 38-0-0 in previous meetings.
Etown will host Susquehanna on Saturday, October 12, at 3:30 p.m.
