WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Senior Ava Whisten and freshman Kayla Myer recorded goals, one in each half, as the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team claimed a 2-1 away victory at Wilkes on Saturday.

It was an early advantage for the Blue Jays as Whisten scored her fifth of the year in the fourth minute to put Elizabethtown on top right away, 1-0. The goal gave Whisten a new single-season career high in goals.

That lead held through the remainder of the first half as Etown outshot Wilkes, 5-3, through 45 minutes.

K. Myer made 2-0 in the 59th minute off a feed from Kirsten Navich, but that two-goal lead didn't last long as the Colonels had turned up the pressure and got one back less than two minutes later to cut the deficit to 2-1 with 30 minutes yet to play.

Adrienne McGallicher made two saves over the final five minutes to preserve the one-goal edge. She made four total in the game, including three in the second half.

The Blue Jays will host Moravian on Wednesday, October 23, at 7 p.m.
