Women's Volleyball Defeats Lycoming in Conference Play

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team picked up another Landmark Conference win, Saturday as they defeated Lycoming, 3-1. 

Gracie Britten led the team with 10 kills (.368), four digs, and two block assists. Emma Bitner tallied 22 assists and five aces while Sophie Savick totaled 21 assists. Lucy Stern picked up 15 digs and Lucy Stanek totaled 13 digs and nine kills. 

Elizabethtown started off set one with the lead after a Sierra Plummer kill the Blue Jays led, 10-6. Kills from Kate Barbon, Stanek, and  Ida Fisher put Etown up18-9. Elizabethtown tallied three points in a row jumping to a 22-13 lead. Britten smacked down one final kill, giving the Blue Jays the 25-16 win. 

To begin set two, the teams traded point with Elizabethtown holding a steady lead. After rattling off seven straight points, the Blue Jays had doubled their lead, 14-7. An ace and a kill from Bitner kept Etown in front 17-10. Lycoming would come within four of Etown before a kill from Plummer and a Warrior error ended the set, 25-20. 

The Warriors took the lead to start set three and continued to hold a substantial lead throughout the set. Elizabethtown was able to come back within four of Lycoming but it wasn't enough as Lycoming won, 25-19. 

Set four was tight to begin as Elizabethtown led by one after two Warrior errors. Etown extended their lead, 16-12 as they tallied five straight. Lycoming rattled off five points in a row tying up the set, 18-18. Lycoming then took a 22-20 lead before Elizabethtown closed out the set with five straight points as Plummer, Fisher, and Savannah Lesley tallied kills to win, 25-22. 

The Blue Jays move to 12-7 and 3-1 in the Landmark Conference. Etown will host Susquehanna on Tuesday, October 15 at 7 PM.
