Men's Basketball Falls Behind at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball fell behind in the second half against Susquehanna after leading, 38-32 at halftime to fall, 76-66 to the River Hawks. 

Niko Georgelis led the team with 15 points while going a perfect 6-6 in field goals and a perfect 3-3 in free throws. Rance Russo totaled 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Austin Finarelli added 12 points. 

Elizabethtown and Susquehanna were tight at the start of the first half as Etown held a 9-7 lead early. Almost three minutes went by with no bucket before Georgelis broke the seal to hold onto the lead. Following the Georgelis bucket, the Blue Jays went on a 10-0 to jump out to a 21-9 lead. Midway through the half, Tyreke Herbert dropped in a three to keep the Jays ahead by nine. Finarelli made a layup at the seven minute mark taking a 29-21 lead. Finarelli and Alon Gorham closed out the shooting for Etown as they led, 38-32 at halftime. 

Russo started off for the Blue Jays, sinking a 3-pointer. Susquehanna gained momentum coming out of the half as they came within one of Etown to bring the score to 41-40. Russo then recorded a jumper followed by another three to hold Etown's lead. The Blue Jays led, 50-46 after two buckets from Georgelis. Russo and Georgelis brought the Blue Jays back out ahead by 12 points midway through the second half. In the final 6:30 minutes, the two teams traded baskets. With four minutes remaining, the River Hawks gained more momentum outscoring Etown, 16-2 to win 76-66. 

Elizabethtown returns home for two straight games as they host Catholic on Wednesday, January 31 at 6PM.
