MADISON, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team made it interesting in the second half on
Sydney Reich's goal, but the Rangers were able to hold off the Blue Jays at Ranger Stadium Saturday afternoon, 2-1.
Elizabethtown (2-6-1, 0-2-0 Landmark) was down 2-0 after 20 minutes of play as the Rangers scored twice in a 10-minute span and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Reich netted her second of the season in the 60th minute to cut the deficit in half.
Maddie McWhinney's cross from the right found her senior teammate as her shot from the left side made it upper 90.
Sarah Crowley needed to make five saves in the second half for Drew (7-4-0, 2-0-0 Landmark) to keep her team ahead.
She stopped a header in the 87th minute and another chance for the Jays with only 45 seconds left as the hosts held on for the one-goal victory.
Nine of Etown's 11 shots were on goal. Drew would hold a narrow advantage in shots, 12-11.
The Blue Jays will host Juniata on Tuesday, October 3, at 7 p.m. for their Pink Night (Breast Cancer Awareness).
