READING, Pa. -- Down 2-1 in the first half, the Elizabethtown College men's soccer team outscored Alvernia 3-1 over the final 75-plus minutes to take home a 4-2 win on Kicks for Cancer night.
Pedro Guizardi notched a brace while
Pedro Vinent and
Sean Rieber also tallied for the Jays.
Rieber began the scoring with the first of his career in the third minute, another early goal for Elizabethtown (2-1-1) on the season.
Mehluko Letsoalo's initial shot was saved, but Rieber was there for the rebound. Letsoalo was credited with the assist on the goal, his first helper of the season.
That was matched less than a minute later by Alvernia's Ryan Cogill to tie the game at 1-1 less than four minutes in. The Golden Wolves doubled the lead to 2-1 just 10 minutes later on Justin Fetrow's third of the year.
From there, it was all Blue Jays on the score sheet. Vinent used
Thomas Smith's first career assist to level the match at 2-2 in the 39th minute to send the teams into halftime tied up.
Only two goals came in the second half and they both belonged to Etown, both from Guizardi. His first of the game and second of the season came in the 60th minute to put EC ahead 3-2. He added his insurance goal in the 75th minute for his team-leading third of the year.
Kelvin Del Cid registered three saves in each half to record the win in the end.
The men's soccer team will host Stevenson on Saturday, September 16, at 7 p.m.
