GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Elizabethtown College baseball team was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Award. It is the sixth consecutive year the Blue Jays have appeared on the organization's list.
The ABCA's Team Academic Excellence Award honors high and college programs coached by ABCA members that post a grade point average over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year.
The 2023 team saw numerous academic successes, highlighted by 18 players being named to the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. Etown also won 31 games this past season and made it to the NCAA Div. III Tournament. It was their most victories in a season since winning 33 games in 1994.
More than 450 collegiate baseball programs spanning Division I, II, and III received the honor and Elizabethtown was one of four teams from the Landmark Conference to bring home the team academic award.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Team are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/Diamond Sports Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fam and Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
