CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team started off its busy week on Monday with a pair of non-conference games at DeSales. The Bulldogs swept the Blue Jays, taking game one, 3-0, before completing the sweep with a 7-3 game-two victory.
GAME ONE: DeSALES 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 0
The offense just couldn't get going in the first game for Elizabethtown (7-13) as they were held to just two hits. Those came from
Kristen Aydelotte and
Maddie Reever.
DeSales (14-6) used a two-run home run in the fourth and another run off a sac fly in the sixth to earn the 3-0 shutout win.
GAME TWO: DeSALES 7, ELIZABETHTOWN 3
Etown was down 5-0 when Aydelotte knocked her sixth double of the season to center field to score
Ashley Judd from first. The Bulldogs got that run back in the bottom half of the fifth.
Curstin Carpenter had a pinch-hit RBI single through the left side with the bases loaded.
Haley Nedo came across home plate safely to make it 6-2. Later,
Jenna Davis singled to right to drive in another run for the Jays to make it 6-3.
DeSales answered for a second consecutive inning to make it 7-3 in the bottom of the sixth. Elizabethtown was held without a run in the seventh as the Bulldogs finished things off for the four-run win.
Aydelotte and Reever each had two hits in game two for the Blue Jays.
Grace Hussey also recorded a hit for EC.
The softball team plays at Wilkes for another non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 5, at 3 and 5 p.m.
