Scranton hands Blue Jays two losses at home

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team finished out its Landmark Conference portion of the 2023 schedule on Thursday against Scranton at The Nest. The Royals won both games over the Blue Jays.

Game 1: Scranton 7, Elizabethtown 3
Scranton (14-16, 6-4 Landmark) led 6-0 after the fifth, but the Jays were able to get two runs back in the bottom half of the inning. That started with Kristen Aydelotte's RBI double to left center to score Ashley Judd all the way from first. Aydelotte was able to score later in the inning after a failed pickoff attempt went into left field.

Maddie Reever added an RBI ground out in the seventh, but Sarah Stepnowski had six RBIs for the Royals as the visitors won game one, 7-3.

Game 2: Scranton 4, Elizabethtown 1
The Royals limited Elizabethtown (8-29, 0-12 Landmark) to two hits for most of the game, though the Blue Jay were only down 2-0 going into the latter stages of the game.

A two-run homer for Stepnowski doubled Scranton's lead to 4-0 in the seventh.

Haley Nedo's RBI single to center brought home Grace Hussey from second. Hussey was in to pinch run after Ashley Mistichelli led off the seventh with a base hit to left.

The Blue Jays will finish out their season on Monday, May 1, against Hood at 3 and 5 p.m.
