The Walk King Walks it off with a Walk

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- All-time Elizabethtown baseball career-walks leader, Tyler McGonigle drew the 107th walk of his career in a walk-off, 7-6 win over Penn St.-Harrisburg. 

With Penn St.-Harrisburg leading, 6-5 after the fifth inning, Quinten Perilli's RBI double in the ninth would tie the game at 6-6. After two intentional walks to load the bases, graduate student McGonigle drew a walk for a walk-off Etown win. 

To start the game, Elizabethtown led early scoring one in the second and two in the third. In the second, James Vito doubled to left center and was brought up on McGonigle's RBI single. In the third, David Woolley led off the inning with a single and then advanced on Perilli's walk. AJ Bednar then singled to load the bases. On a sacrifice fly to right field, Woolley went home. Vito earned his second RBI of the day on a single, bringing home Perilli. 

In the fourth, Penn St.-Harrisburg would take the lead as they scored all six of their runs on four hits in the inning. In the fifth, the Blue Jays came within one, 5-6. Robbie Bertucio started off the inning reaching first on an error by the third baseman. Perilli then hit a two-run homer down the left field line. 

The sixth through eighth innings were scoreless with the Lions leading, 6-5. In the bottom of the ninth, Woolley singled to right center and then advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Perilli doubled down the left field line to bring home Woolley, tying up the game, 6-6. Perilli then advanced to third on a fielder's choice and Vito was intentionally walked to load the bases. With two outs and the bases loaded, McGonigle drew a walk to score Perilli for the 7-6 win. 

Elizabethtown who is receiving votes in the latest d3baseball.com/NCBWA Top-25 Poll moves to 27-7 and extends their win streak to nine. Penn St.-Harrisburg who is also receiving votes in the latest poll falls to 28-8. 

Etown will travel to Albright for one final non-conference game starting at 4PM.
