ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team celebrated their Senior Day in style with a 24-8 win over Drew on Saturday at Wolf Field. It was the third straight game with at least 24 goals scored all while holding their sixth Landmark Conference opponent to single digits.
Colin Kondracki led the goal scoring department for Etown with six while
Riley Langen notched six points of his own.
Brayden Franey got the win while combining with
Kyle Miller for 14 saves for the Jays.
Ben O'Connor got things going with his first of five in the game a little over a minute into the first to make it 1-0 for Elizabethtown (10-4, 6-0 Landmark). The Rangers rallied off two consecutive goals to put the Jays behind 2-1, but six unanswered from Etown made it a 7-2 game at the end of the first.
Derek Baldwin found Langen for his first goal of the game to tie it at 2-2. O'Connor then scored unassisted before Kondracki reeled off a first-quarter hat trick, scoring the third of the series with 1:01 to go in the first. Baldwin ended the quarter with an unassisted goal with four seconds left.
Drew (5-10, 0-6 Landmark) scored first in the second, but would be undone by eight straight from the Blue Jays.
Ryan Flanegan wriggled his way through multiple defenders to get in front of goal and fake out Matt Duarte for his Senior Day goal.
Alex Kilgour netted an unassisted goal that followed Flanegan's as Elizabethtown went ahead 9-3.
Jacob Griffin,
Alex Ly, and
Brent Wehland got in on the scoring action in the second quarter as well.
Lucca Scomillio also provided a pair of second-quarter assists and tied a season-high with three in the game. Wehland's goal came with 1:53 to go in the half, the final goal prior to halftime. Etown led 15-3 at the break.
Joey Killpatrick set up O'Connor and Kondracki for goals over the first 5:18 of the play in the third as the Jays' lead continued to expand. Franey also played a key role in setting up scoring plays from the back. His outlets led to easy transition opportunities for Etown as
Eric Hoover fed both d-men
Gio Raso and
Joel Maragoto for goals. It was Raso's first of the season and Maragoto's first career goal for the Blue Jays. Hoover tied a career-high with three assists in the game.
O'Connor (2) and Kondracki provided the fourth-quarter scoring for EC as both teams tallied three times in the fourth. Franey made 12 saves before Miller came in to replace him over the final eight and a half minutes of regulation. Miller stopped two shots during his game action.
Colin Johnson and
Lucas Kohler also had assists for the Jays in the game.
Elizabethtown will host Catholic on Saturday, April 29, at 1 p.m.
