ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Messiah got the better of the Elizabethtown College softball team on Thursday, taking both games of the non-conference doubleheader at The Nest.
GAME 1: MESSIAH 9, ELIZABETHTOWN 0 (F/5)
Messiah (21-8) went up 1-0 in the first and held the Blue Jays without a run over five innings.
The Falcons added three runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth to take the 9-0 win in five.
Brooke Huczko,
Kristen Aydelotte,
Ashley Mistichelli and
Megan Thomas had one hit each for Elizabethtown (7-21).
GAME 2: MESSIAH 14, ELIZABETHTOWN 0 (F/5)
For the second consecutive game, Messiah went on top 1-0 in the first while the Etown bats struggled to get going. The Jays were held to three hits in game two.
The Falcons scored five runs in the third and eight runs in the fourth to take a 14-0 lead into the fifth.
Haley Nedo led off with a double down the left field line and eventually Elizabethtown had the bases loaded. Huczko had walked after Nedo's double. Then, with one out,
Ashley Judd singled through the right side to load the bases. The Falcons were able to get out the inning without a blemish as a pop out and ground out ended the game.
The Blue Jays are scheduled to host Susquehanna on Saturday, April 15, at 1 and 3 p.m. at The Nest.
