ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team dropped a pair of Landmark Conference games to Moravian on Saturday at The Nest. The Greyhounds shut out the Blue Jays 4-0 in game one before taking game two 13-1 in five innings.
GAME 1: MORAVIAN 4, ELIZABETHTOWN 0
The Greyhounds used a three-run second inning to go in front in game one. A pair of doubles, a two-run and one-run, sent Moravian (12-5, 2-0 Landmark) in front.
Elizabethtown (7-11, 0-4 Landmark) struggled to get the offense going against Madi Cunningham.
Maddie Reever broke up a no-hit bid in the fifth inning, beating out the throw to first.
Ashley Judd started the bottom of the sixth with a looping single into right, but was left stranded at second.
Paige Phillips sent a leadoff double to right center to put a runner in scoring position immediately for the Blue Jays. Cunningham didn't allow her any further as she clamped down for the final three outs and Moravian took game one, 4-0.
GAME 2: MORAVIAN 13, ELIZABETHTOWN 1 (F/5)
A three-run first gave Moravian a 3-0 lead right away, though
Kristen Aydelotte's RBI single to left cut the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom half of the first.
That's all Etown would get as Sarah DeStefano held Etown to just three hits the rest of the way.
The Greyhounds put up a seven-run second inning and tacked on three more in the third.
After a lightning delay in the bottom of the fourth, Moravian finished off the doubleheader with a 13-1 win in five innings.
Ashley Mistichelli was 2-for-2 in game two while Phillips and Aydelotte also recorded hits for EC.
The softball team plays at DeSales for a non-conference doubleheader on Monday, April 3.
