AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team scored their most runs since early 2020 and junior Emily Polimeni had a career day in game one as the Blue Jay swept Rivier by scores of 16-3 and 6-4. Etown improved to 3-1 on their spring break trip in Florida.

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 16, RIVIER 3 (F/5)
The Blue Jays got going right away and it started with Polimeni's first of two homers in the game. Brooke Huczko, Etown's leadoff hitter, was on base for Polimeni, who slugged a two-run shot to left in the top of the first. EC tacked on three more to make it 5-0 after one.

It was the same situation for Polimeni in the second with Huczko on base for her. The junior hit her second of the game, a new career-high both in a single game and for the season. This time to right center. She brought in two more runs an inning later with a double to score Huczko for a third time and Olivia Prosser. The Jays were ahead 9-0 at that point. Kadyn Crisswell made it 11-0 with a second consecutive two-RBI double. Kristen Aydelotte and Polimeni scored on the play.

Elizabethtown also took advantage of nine errors committed by Rivier (0-8).

Paige Phillips added an RBI double down the right field line in the fourth to put Etown up 15-1.

Tori Caputo pitched all five innings to get her first win of the season. The senior had three strikeouts in the game. Polimeni finished the game 3-for-5 with six RBIs and three runs scored. Huczko was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Aydelotte and Prosser also had multi-hit efforts with two hits apiece.

GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 6, RIVIER 4
Etown had to come from behind in game two as the Raiders were able to build themselves a 3-0 lead through the top of the third.

Maddie Reever got the Jays on the board with an RBI single to plate Grace Hussey.

Rivier responded with a run in the top of the fourth to get their lead back to three, 4-1, but all it took was one swing of the bat from Crisswell to change that in the bottom half of the frame.

Ashley Mistichelli, Megan Thomas, and Ashley Judd each had consecutive singles to load the bases for the sophomore, who stepped in and hit a grand slam that put Elizabethtown ahead 5-4.

Mikaela Benner, who was on in relief, was now in line for the win and she got out of the fifth with a runner at third and one out, forcing two fly outs to end the threat and keep the Jays ahead by one. Cierra Kunkle took over in the sixth and threw two scoreless innings after Mistichelli drove in Polimeni, a pinch-hitter in the bottom half of of the fifth.

With a two-run cushion, Kunkle sat down the side in order in the sixth. Rivier threatened again in the seventh with the bases loaded and two outs. Kunkle got the final batter to fly out to center to end the game and earn her the save for the Blue Jays.

Mistichelli, Judd, and Crisswell all had two hits each in the game. Crisswell had a game-high four RBIs while Mistchelli and Reever added the other two for Etown. Benner improved to 2-0 on the season.
