AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Senior
Tori Caputo won her second game of the season on Friday as the Elizabethtown College softball team split its games with Dominican (Ill.) and Pitt.-Greensburg. Caputo's win came in an 8-0 shutout in the second game of the day.
GAME 1: DOMINICAN (ILL.) 7, ELIZABETHTOWN 4
The Blue Jays had a 1-0 lead after
Brooke Huczko was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the second. Dominican scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to take their first lead.
Megan Thomas tied the game 2-2 with an RBI ground out to score
Kristen Aydelotte. Though, once again, the Stars responded and retook the lead.
Dominican added four runs in the fourth to go ahead 7-2.
Cierra Kunkle and
Grace Hussey each had RBIs in the fifth to bring the Jays within three, but that's as close as they would get.
GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 8, PITT.-GREENSBURG 0 (F/5)
Caputo was in complete control of the Bobcats, only allowing three hits over five innings. She'd also record a pair of strikeouts in the complete game effort.
Meanwhile, her offense supplied plenty of runs, starting with
Kadyn Crisswell's two-RBI double in the first.
Ashley Judd added an RBI sac fly in the third to make it 3-0.
Elizabethtown put up three runs in the fourth as Aydelotte scored on an error before
Maddie Reever singled in Crisswell.
In the fifth,
Haley Nedo and
Curstin Carpenter each had RBI base hits. Carpenter's single to center knocked in
Olivia Prosser to end the game at 8-0 in the fifth.
