CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team faced off against Dickinson on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader with the Red Devils. Dickinson won both games.
GAME 1: DICKINSON 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 2
Dickinson (10-8) led 3-0 after the third inning. Neither team put up a run in the either of the first two. The Blue Jays attempted to come back in the sixth with a pair of runs.
Brooke Huczko knocked in
Mikaela Benner before the freshman scored on an error that made it 3-2.
The Red Devils got the final three outs in the seventh to win game one.
Kadyn Crisswell,
Paige Phillips,
Megan Thomas, and
Ashley Mistichelli each had hits in the game for Etown.
GAME 2: DICKINSON 12, ELIZABETHTOWN 1 (F/5)
Phillips hit an RBI double in the top half of the first in game two to put Elizabethtown (6-8) in front 1-0. Crisswell scored on the play.
Dickinson's offense started red hot as they put up multiple runs in each of the first three innings to get out to a commanding lead.
The Jays would get runners in scoring position in the fifth, but the Red Devils closed it out without allowing another run to take game two and earn the sweep.
Crisswell went 2-for-3 in the game with Phillips and
Kristen Aydelotte also recording hits for EC.
The softball team will host Ursinus for a non-conference makeup doubleheader on Thursday, March 30, at The Nest. Game times are scheduled for 3 and 5 p.m.
