ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team hosted a thrilling tri-match day as the Blue Jays fell, 3-1 to Lancaster Bible before defeating Arcadia, 3-2. Senior,

Game 1 vs. Lancaster Bible: L, 3-1
Lancaster Bible picked up the first two set wins, 25-21, 26-24 before Elizabethtown won set three 24-21. The Blue Jays out hit the Chargers with a 0.407 hitting percentage in the thrilling 24-26 loss in set two. Lancaster Bible held a 0.294 hitting percentage. In set three, Lancaster Bible came out with a 6-3 lead following a kill. The Blue Jays came within after two Charger errors. Etown then rattled off four points in a row to take a 12-9 lead as
Nick Chapman and
Tony Camillo ended the rally with a block. Lancaster Bible came back with three consecutive kills, tying up set three, 12-12. Etown came back with a 6-1 run as
Steve Swain and
Kyle McKiernan recorded kills. LBC again tied up the set, 20-20 after two kills. Etown then went on a 5-1 run with kills from Chapman and Camillo to win, 25-21.
Elizabethtown would then go on to fall, 23-25 in set four as Lancaster Bible won, 3-1. The Blue Jays totaled 34 kills for a .176 hitting percentage while the Chargers recorded 54 kills for a .153 hitting percentage. Swain led the team with 11 kills (.286) while Camillo totaled seven and three blocks. Chapman and McKiernan each totaled six kills each.
Nate Seeger tallied 31 assists and 11 digs.
Game 2 vs. Arcadia: W, 3-2
To start set one, the two teams traded points before either could take more than a one-point lead. A kill from Chapman and an Arcaida attack error brought the Blue Jays out in front, 11-9. The Knights then took the lead at 16-15 after three Etown service errors. Swain smacked down a kill tying up the set, 20-20. The Knights then picked up a 23-20 lead after three consecutive points. Etown came within one before Arcadia grabbed the final two to win, 25-22.
Set two again started close as Arcadia led early, 8-7 after two kills. Elizabethtown took a 14-12 lead after a service ace from
Blake Hildebrand. The Knights and Blue Jays went back and forth for a while before Etown had taken six point lead after a Chapman ace. Arcadia couldn't recover as a kill from Hildebrand ended the set, 25-20.
Arcadia started strong in set three as they came out to an 8-5 lead. The Knights then jumped ahead 13-8. Two kills from Swain kept the Jays within reach of Arcadia. A 5-1 run for the Knights pulled them ahead by nine at 19-12. A kill from Camillo and two Arcadia errors brought the score to 16-21. Etown rattled off four consecutive points to cut Arcadia's lead, 22-24 before the Knights recorded a final kill to win, 25-22.
The fourth set began in a back-n-forth fashion before Arcadia held an 11-8 lead. A McKiernan kill and Knights error tied up the set, 12-12. After trading points once again, Etown tallied three points in a row.
Cheston Jacobs and Hildebrand kills sandwiched an Arcadia attack error. Elizabethtown closed out the set with a 5-1 run to win, 25-21.
The fifth set ended in a thrilling fashion as Elizabethtown won, 15-12 after being down 8-5 early. The Blue Jays recovered with a four straight points to take a 10-9 lead.
Barckholtz tallied 37 assists on his way to 1000 career-assists. Swain totaled 18 kills (.304), McKiernan totaled 16 kills (.389) while Chapman totaled 11 kills (.308).
The Blue Jays get back into CVC on Friday, March 24th as they travel to Randolph-Macon.
