Fort Pierce, Fla.—The Elizabethtown baseball team ended their spring break trip in Florida this morning as they downed Thiel, 16-1. The Blue Jays move to 7-3 overall on the season.
It was a slow start for Elizabethtown as they were scoreless in the first before scoring their first run of the game on a walk. To start off the third,
David Woolley tripled to right field.
James Vito singled up the middle to bring home Woolley. The fourth and fifth innings were scoreless for both teams. Etown scored their third run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly out to center field. In the bottom of the sixth, Thiel scored their lone run of the game on a homer to left field.
Elizabethtown gained momentum after that as they rattled off four runs in the seventh. One run was earned on a walk and the other three were earned on an error by the right fielder. In the eighth, the Blue Jays bats were hot scoring seven runs on five hits.
Justin Wetzel,
Bryce Keller, and
Ryan Redding each recorded a RBI while
AJ Bednar recorded three RBI's in the inning.
In the ninth,
Joe Limongelli singled up the middle and advanced after Wetzel was hit by a pitch. Then they both advanced on a wild pitch.
Riley Thomas singled up the middle for two RBIs to end the scoring as Elizabethtown won, 16-1.
Kyle Mulville picked up his second win of the week, striking out six.
The Blue Jays return home to Elizabethtown and will host York (Pa.) on Wednesday, March 15 at 3:30 PM.
